User Experience Testing and Design in Singapore
What is User Experience Testing?
User experience (UX) is an important factor in designing a product. The impression that users form based on their experience can affect their willingness in using the product again. So, let’s say you have a website or mobile app for your business and want it to succeed, it will be a good idea to invest in UX.
Guessing and making assumptions don’t help much in improving the user experience. Developers, designers, and others who are involved in creating the product may have the bias that can influence their perception. They are also already familiar with the product. Here is where user experience testing comes into play. Also known as UX testing, it refers to the process of evaluating how people interact with certain products and why they do it. Through the testing, it is possible to assess the product’s usability, find out what works, what doesn’t, and rooms for improvement.

User Experience Testing Methods
The UX field has developed various methods to conduct user experience testing. Each type of test usually has its own characteristics and you can choose which test will best suit your need. Here are two examples of the user experience testing method:
- Online surveys: In completing an online survey, participants are required to fill in the questionnaire about a product. The results of this survey provide a set of numerical data which is useful to assess the users’ tendency. By reviewing the users’ response, we can also learn about their attitude and feelings towards certain design or features of a product. In addition, as the survey is accessible online, location is not a problem and large data can be obtained in a short while.
- Usability testing: The process involves evaluating a product by observing how participants interact with it. The participants are sample chosen from the product’s potential target market. While it can’t produce exact numbers and figures, usability testing is a kind of qualitative research that can provide more in-depth insight and answer the broad question. It is also more focused on finding out what the users actually do by observing their behavior directly.

As mentioned before, UX testing methods should be chosen depending on the kind of insights we expect to discover. In fact, every testing method can provide a different perspective towards an issue. That is why UX research, in general, will combine various method to gain the better understanding of the users’ needs.
